The first time I had to choose between an HPI and a Traxxas, I spent way too long standing in my local hobby shop staring at the shelves. Both looked awesome. Both had great reviews. And everyone seemed convinced that their favorite brand was the only right answer. Fast forward a few years, and I’ve…
The first RC car I ever bought was way faster than I was ready for. I thought more speed meant more fun, but after hitting a curb in less than five minutes, I realized I’d fallen for the marketing instead of thinking about how I’d actually use it. Looking back, I would’ve enjoyed the hobby…
A couple of summers ago, I picked up what I thought was the perfect RC rally car and headed to an empty gravel parking lot near my neighborhood. Five minutes later, I realized I’d bought the wrong one. It looked amazing online, but once the dirt started flying, it bounced all over the place and…
A few years ago, I almost talked myself out of buying a travel drone. I figured my phone and camera were good enough. Then I borrowed a friend’s drone during a weekend road trip, and after seeing the footage from above, I knew there was no going back. I also realized that finding the best…
A few years ago, I made the mistake of buying an electric scooter based on photos and marketing claims. On paper, it looked perfect. Great range, decent speed, and hundreds of positive reviews. What those reviews didn’t mention was how different the scooter felt once a heavier adult stepped on it. Hills became a struggle,…
A few months ago, I brought an RC boat to a local lake expecting a relaxing afternoon. Instead, I spent half the time chasing a dead battery across the water and the other half wondering why I bought the cheapest boat I could find. That experience taught me something pretty quickly: not all budget RC…
The first RC car I ever bought for dirt was a complete disappointment. It looked awesome online. Huge tires, aggressive body, all the marketing buzzwords you could imagine. But the first time I took it to a local dirt field, it spent more time spinning its tires than actually moving forward. That experience taught me…
A few years ago, I made a mistake that most RC beginners make. I bought an RC car based entirely on the speed number printed on the box. It looked fast, aggressive, and honestly pretty awesome. Ten minutes later it was stuck in my backyard grass, bouncing over tree roots, and struggling to get across…
Best RC Truck Under $300: The Models I Seriously Considered Before Buying For a long time, I thought getting a good RC truck meant spending $500 or more. A few months ago, I started looking for a new RC truck to drive on weekends. Nothing competitive. Just something fast, durable, and fun enough to enjoy…
A few months ago, I was hanging out at a local RC spot watching people run everything from small backyard bashers to high-end race machines. One thing caught my attention pretty quickly. No matter what people brought, there always seemed to be at least one Rustler 4X4 flying across the dirt, launching off ramps, and…
